Danger

The street is a dangerous place for everyone. There is no one settled agreement about behaviour or code of conduct. People view the street as a “Free zone” and everything is up for grabs, especially at night or when people are out enjoying themselves and alcohol and drugs are involved.

Many people do not realise the danger they are in. People put themselves in vulnerable positions.  They undermine their sense of responsibility and don’t see the presence of threat. Guardians are on the street to help people get home safely or to their destination. We are not there to lecture or proselytise people or force them to accept things when they are vulnerable. We are there to tell them that God is real, and cares for people. If we are conversing with someone, it might be appropriate to point out to them their vulnerability and the need for care and some protection for their person.

There are predators on the street and we need to be aware of that for others and also for ourselves.
